We are pleased to offer a shoulder and knee joint injection service which can be helpful as part of the treatment conditions such as Frozen Shoulder, Meniscus (cartilage) tears, Rotator Cuff injuries and Osteoarthritis. The injection contains a local anaesthetic and steroid mixture which can help relieve pain and inflammation.
Who is suitable for treatment:
Many people are suitable but not unfortunately not everyone is. Certain conditions eg. muscle tears will not be helped by steroid injection. If you are on blood thinning medication you may not be suitable but this will be assessed by the GP.
Joint injections should help decrease any inflammation, swelling, tenderness, or heat within the joint. If successful, relief should be experienced within a few days, and can last for months. Generally, the patient will respond after one injection, however, it may be necessary to administer more. Joint injections can be very helpful, but also have a small risk of complications e.g. infection, bruising, bleeding, warmth or swelling around the injection site or failure.
